Cora Therber is a North Carolina-raised, NYC-based theatre artist, director, and educator. Cora’s work begins with a love for humanity and connection, with a begrudging acceptance that love might just save us all. They bring empathy, confidence, and autonomy into every room they are in, and they love to create spaces where artists can reach their full potential.
Cora is interested in what theatre looks like outside of the business model seen in the United States. They aim to collaborate with people who do not identify as theatre makers, making art on other people’s terms.
Cora’s time in the theater has included directing original plays, devising original narrative pieces, and writing and directing Greek adaptations. They’ve designed sets, props, and analog projections. Cora’s other creative focuses include analog film animation, collage, and linocut prints. Cora is a proud alum of the 24 Hour Plays: Nationals and JACK Labs.
Cora just moved back to New York from Portland, Maine, where they worked as a behavioral support and teaching artist, unlocking a deep love for working in early education. They are forever inspired by theatre artists doing non-commercial projects outside of the 40-hour work week with no aims of ever “going pro.”
When not working in theatre or education, you can find Cora tinkering with vintage film equipment, reading the Dune Chronicles, experimenting with new pimple patches, or cooking chicken and rice.
